I love spring. It is my most favorite time of the year. Everything is beginning again, the birds are back, and the days are getting longer. Yes, springtime is the best.
Welcome Springtime!
And to kick off the springtime season, I wanted to make a new wreath for my front door. Tulips are certainly spring flowers. And when you see the first little pop of color poking up from the ground, you can’t help but get excited. Ok, I am speaking for myself. But it’s true! Tulips are such a happy burst of color, and I couldn’t help myself but make a DIY project using these happy little flowers.

How to DIY a Tulip Wreath
To start, you have to find the flowers. And right now, Michael’s has these tulips on sale. I think they have this sale every spring. Which is good if you want to make this wreath! They have so many different choices when it comes to colors. No matter what your color pallet is, you can find some tulips that will compliment your decor or your front door.
Next, you will need a wreath form. And to keep this super easy, choose a metal ring for your wreath. These metal rings come in many different sizes. For mine, I chose an 18″ wreath.
Next I needed something to secure the flower bunches to the wreath form. I tried using floral tape, but this didn’t seem strong enough. So I tried using painter’s masking tape. And this wasn’t as flexible as I really wanted. So I found one more type of tape, and this worked just right!
The Secret To a Perfect DIY Tulip Wreath
And the secret ingredient to making this wreath so easy to assemble….Electrical tape! Yep! The electrical tape was the perfect solution for securing the flower bunches to the wreath ring.
No hot glue needed – which is so great! I simply just added a bunch of flowers to the metal ring, and secured it in place using electrical tape. The tape works perfectly to work around the wreath form while it secures the flowers.
So I just wrapped bunch after bunch around the wreath form until the entire wire ring was covered with flowers. And once I secured each bunch of flowers to the ring, I did overwrap the electrical tape with the green floral tape. This way if any of the ring shows through, hopefully, the green will show. And not the black electrical tape.
To keep the wreath looking full, I pushed the flowers all the way to the top of the bundle. And I began wrapping the bundle about 1″ below the flowers. I repeated the process over and over until there was no blank space left on the metal ring.
And as I worked my way around the wreath ring, I did end up shortening the flower bunches because there was less space for the metal ring to accommodate the length of the flower bunch.
How to DIY a Tulip Wreath
And that is that! All that was left to do was to make an easy hanger for the wreath. I took a piece of string, tied a knot in it, and then looped it around itself, and wa-la! I have a wreath hanger.
Ni fuss, no muss, and again – no glue.
Springtime Tulip Wreath DIY
To make this wreath I used the following:
- 20 Bunches of Tulips
- 18″ Metal Wreath Ring Form
- Electrical Tape
- Floral Tape
- 6″ Lenght of String (for the hanger)
And that’s it. Talk about easy! This was such a fun and easy project. And I know you can do this too.
I did make a wreath for the first time ever last year using a Dollar Tree Pool Noodle.
And it did work – but this wreath was a little more labor intensive. But looking at the video thumbnail – I do love the look of the pink flowers. So happy and pretty!
But this new version…well this wreath was a fast craft, and it was a lot easier to make.
If you watch both videos, let me know which way of wreath making you like better. I don’t think there is a right or wrong way to make a tulip wreath. I think the most important thing is that you make it! So gather your supplies, and get ready to create something beautiful for your home or your front door!
Happy Crafting!
