Welcome back to Day 3 of the 30 Day Crafting Challenge! I am so happy you are here!!!! And I have a fun project for you today. Today, we are going to make a wall hanging using beads, lots of beads, actually. And a stick. If you can’t find a long enough stick, you could also use a wooden dowel. Either will work just fine.
Easy Beaded Wall Hanging
For my project, I was able to find some already strung beads at Dollar Tree. I bought these a while ago because I knew I would find something to do with them. And I have a lot of wooden beads too. So the combination of the bead strands, along with the loose wooden beads, are a good combination for this wall hanging.

To make this wall hanging you will need the following supplies:
- 5 Strands Dollar Tree Round Wooden Beads
- Natural Wood Beads (I used 16mm beads for my project)
- 24″ Long Stick – at least 1″ diameter – or a wooden dowel
- Baker’s Twine (or string)
- Craft Needle
- Silk flower bunches
- Hot Glue Gun
- Glue Sticks
And that’s it! Not too many supplies for this craft. Which is a good thing! It also doesn’t take a lot of time to make this project.
Easy Beaded Wall Hanging
First, start by taking your stick (or dowel) and determine how long you want it to be. For mine, I cut the stick down to about 22 inches long.
And I used my awesome little mini chop saw. This thing is so great. It is one of my favorite additions to my craft room, and it’s pretty affordable too. But I cut down the branch that I found to the size I wanted it to be using my little chop saw.
And then I started working with the bead strands. The Dollar Tree beads are smaller in size than the beads I had to string. I started my project with the loose beads on the twine, and then did a Dollar Tree strand. I looped the first strand to create a “U” shape. I continued to alternate the bead strands over the branch. First, large beads, then smaller beads. And so on and so on until I was happy with the number of bead strands that would be hanging down from my branch.
I have to say, a craft needle will make threading the beads onto the twine a LOT easier. The craft needle I used came in a set. I am so happy I bought these. The craft needle makes fast work of putting the beads onto the twine. I made a very long strand of loose beads. This way, I didn’t have to make multiple strands of beads.
Attaching The Bead Strands
I continued the process until there were only about 2 inches left on either end of my stick. And while I was practicing how I wanted the beads to hang on the stick, I let my glue gun heat up.
And then, strand by strand, I glued them to the stick. When I was finished, I had 5 strands of beads attached to the stick.
Creating a Floral Topper
If you wanted to, you could end your project here. But I wanted to add a little bit of greenery and flowers. So I used some floral picks that I had from Walmart. Have you seen the floral selection at Walmart? They have some VERY nice flowers! They are also very affordable.
I cut the floral picks into individual stems. And then, I arranged the stems onto the stick.
And that was pretty much it! This was a pretty easy project to create using things that I already had in my craft room. And honestly, that is what this challenge is all about. I want to use the stuff I already have. No need to go buy new supplies. I need to use what I have!
