Are you looking for a fun and creative DIY project that will add a touch of spring and beauty to your home decor? Have you seen the Pottery Barn floral arrangements that look like the flowers are in water? They are SO beautiful. But they are also really expensive. Did you know that you could DIY your own faux flower arrangement in a vase with an acrylic water medium? You Can! There is a very easy way to do this. Not only is it a budget-friendly option, but with the right flower selection, you will have this project for years to come! You can personalize the arrangement to match your style and home decor. In this tutorial, I will show you how easy it is to create a stunning faux flower arrangement that looks just as good as the real thing – flowers in water. Let’s get started!

Pottery Barn Floral Arrangements

Ok, I love all things Pottery Barn. They have the most beautiful things that I would LOVE to fill my home with. And their floral arrangements are just incredible.

But the cost. Ouch. Even though they are beautiful, I just cannot justify the cost. No matter if they are on sale, or not.

But I have found an alternative, making my own floral arrangements to look like they came from Pottery Barn. And you know what? They are very easy and affordable to make! You only need a few things:

To make your own floral arrangement in water this is what you will need:

  • Floral Bunch (I got mine from Amazon)
  • Acrylic Water Medium (Epoxy Resin Kit is the best affordable option)
  • Vase (I used a square one)

And that’s it! Talk about easy right? Now for the fun part, putting together your arrangement. First things first, make sure your vase is squeaky clean.

Next, decide if you like your flowers how they are or if you want to have them shorter. For my tulips, I wanted them a little bit shorter, so I cut them down a little bit.

The next thing you will need to do is to mix your acrylic water to go into your vase. The acrylic medium is what looks like water in the bottom of the vase. It is really cool.

The ‘Quick Water’ I bought for this project was a little expensive for what I got. It was only 6 ounces of product. But I found a crystal clear resin that should work the same. And you get 17 ounces of product for fewer dollars! Just follow the instructions. I will be buying the resin kit I found the next time I want to make a floral arrangement like this.

It should work the same way the fake water does. And it’s about half the cost.

Next, you just set the flowers up in your vase and then wait at least 24 hours for the acrylic to cure. When it’s done, you will have a beautiful floral arrangement!

And as always, if you are a more visual learner, here is the video tutorial of the project.
