Have you considered buying an automatic heat press for your HTV crafting but don’t want to break the bank? With so many choices out there, it can be hard to figure out which auto heat press is right for you. And today, I have found an affordable and reliable machine that I wanted to share.
I am relatively new to the world of creating my own shirts and other things using HTV (heat transfer vinyl), aka; iron on vinyl. And I don’t know why I didn’t start sooner. This is SO much fun!
But one thing that wasn’t as much fun was using an easy press for heating up the vinyl. I found that after doing a t-shirt, or even a saddle pad, I was getting tired, and it would hurt my shoulder from the pressing. But I found something that is a game changer, and I want to share it with you and also explain why you may want to consider investing in an automatic heat press instead of an easy press.

Benefits of Investing in an Automatic Heat Press For Efficiency
When looking for a reliable yet affordable auto heat press, consider investing in an automatic model. An automatic machine can quickly and efficiently handle multiple tasks, such as pressing prints requiring multiple vinyl layers. You should look for a machine that is easy to use, has a wide range of heat settings, and applies even pressure to your project.
Also, a heat press will make fast work of projects and save your back because the machine automatically presses for you. So no more guessing if you’re applying the right amount of pressure – the machine takes care of that for you. An automatic heat press is more expensive than a manual press style of press. But in my recent experience – it is so worth it!
HTVRONT Automatic Heat Press
The great people at HTVRONT asked me if I would like to review their machine in exchange for testing it out. And of course, I said…. Yes Please! Please send me a heat press and save my back and shoulder from pain! I mean, crafting is supposed to be fun right?
Once the machine got to me, I started reading the manual right away. I wanted to make sure I did the pressing correctly – and not ruin my projects. No pressure right? (Get it? Pressure!?!?!?)
So let me tell you a little bit about this Auto Heat Press. HTVRONT Auto Heat Press features an advanced pressure transducer, which allows it to auto-adjust optimal pressure for the material you place on the plate for pressing. This means no more guessing if you are applying the right amount of pressure. And the best part – the machine initiates the pressing automatically! And once the material has been pressed, the machine automatically releases the project. This is so cool!
HTVRONT Automatic Heat Press Features
This machine has a large heating plate that is suitable for most projects. Well, it has been perfect for any project I have done so far, t-shirts, saddle pads, hand towels, and just about anything else you would think about pressing. And this Heat Press Machine has multiple modes that are easily accessible from the control panel: 4 fast modes, 2 custom modes, and an auto mode, which all start working by clicking one single button. There is no assembly or difficult press-to-lock required, this machine helps you to create projects easily.
It has a 15” x 15” heating plate that has fast and even heating. It only takes around 6 minutes to reach its maximum heating temperature of 210℃/410℉.
As for the common setting of 160°C, the heat press machine takes less than 4 minutes to heat up. Which, from what I have read, is almost twice faster as a regular heat press. And if you like to get really technical with specs, it has NTC thermistor technology and a dual-zone heating engine. This Auto Heat Press Machine provides uniform heat covering all corners.
The HTVRONT auto press machine features a pullout drawer design, which protects you from the heat source hovering over your hands as you work. It has an exclusive H-Cooling technology and features multiple layers of thermal insulation. The machine also has a built-in auto-off feature that turns the machine off if there has been no activity for 10 minutes.
HTVRONT Auto Heat Press Review
The digital display is very easy to use. There are only 9 buttons to press, which is very easy to understand. This is good for someone like me who tends to get overwhelmed easily with a huge control panel with lots of buttons to push!
And finally, this heat press is equipped with premium components, such as FCC & UL certificated wires and plugs, advanced pressure transducers, a high-tech resin display screen, an auto-adjust system for projects, an automatic lifting system, a three-section buffer slide, and a dual-zone heating engine.
How Does HTVRONT Auto Press Compare to Cricut Auto Press?
One thing I am sure you are wondering how does the HTVRONT machine compare with the Cricut auto press? I can only compare what I have read about the Cricut machine because I don’t own one. But from what I have read, the biggest difference between the two machines is that the Cricut machine has a wide open top that swings up and down, so you can totally see the project workplate and adjust the material freely. Where as the HTVRONT auto press has a workplate that pulls out like a drawer and allows you to put your material in place. Also, the Cricut machine allows up to 2” of material, and the HTVRONT machine allows up to 1” thick material. But I will never be pressing anything over an inch thick, so the HTVRONT press is perfectly acceptable to me.
After reviewing all of the specs of the Cricut machine, the HTVRONT machine is very comparable, and the best part about this machine is that it is affordable. The HTVRONT Auto Heat Press is about 1/5th the cost of the Cricut Auto Press.
Trying Out The HTVRONT Auto Press
This machine is VERY easy to use. Even for a newbie like me. The instructions are very simple:
Step 1
Turn on the power and start the machine. Set the proper temperature and time for your material according to the material you will be using.
Step 2
Place your materials and project on the pullout drawer plate.
Step 3
Push the drawer plate with your project on it into place, and the machine will automatically begin the press.
Step 4
When the press is finished, the pressing plate will automatically rise. Pull out the pullout table and remove the carrier sheet.
And that’s it!
I tested out multiple t-shirts using HTVRONT HTV vinyl and had great results. And I also found this guide that I created a reference sheet for a quick reminder of HTV temperature and pressing guidelines.
I did not make this test easy for the HTV or the pressing machine. Some of the designs I created were very intricate.
It took me longer to come up with the designs than it did to press! And even though I am a beginner when it comes to creating projects with HTV, the auto press made it so easy.
Every one of my projects turned out great. I had no issues with the HTV or the press.
And the best part is I now have a very useful tool for my craft room!
I can really see my potential improving simply by practicing with different projects. My only problem now is I have to get more t-shirts because I used up all the ones I bought!
My Honest Thoughts on the HTV RONT Auto Press
HTVRONT sent the auto press to me to test out and give my thoughts on their machine. So let me give you the 100% honest truth of what I think of it.
Things that I really like about the press are:
- Fast and easy setup to get started.
- It is lighter than most larger heat presses.
- Sleek Design
- Small size compared to a clamshell or swing-away press.
- Automatic features are very nice.
- Large heat plate size (15 x 15) and suitable for all of my projects so far
- It comes with a huge Teflon sheet
- Convenient slide-out tray
- Relatively quick warm-up time
- Quiet operation
- Safety auto shut off
- The blinking light, when turned off, prompts me to unplug the press, which I think is safer than leaving it plugged in.
- A whole lot cheaper than a Cricut auto press.
I do think there are some minor design issues that could be better, but I have been able to work around them, so they are not big issues for me:
- The clearance between the top plate and the bottom plate is only 1”
- There’s still a section where you have to fiddle with getting t-shirts, sweatshirts, etc., to slip into the opening.
- There’s no pressure adjustment, but for most projects, the auto-sensing for pressure works fine. But having the ability to set light, medium, and firm pressures would be a nice upgrade.
- And lastly, and this is minor really, the instruction manual is a little difficult to understand. I think that’s because whoever wrote it probably doesn’t speak English as their first language. It is understandable, but the instructions are challenging to read. Again, this minor detail would not affect my overall thoughts on the auto press.
